He married first Maria Lobo in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida, on 25 December 1927.3-4 She was born about 1910 in Florida, probably Hillsborough County, a daughter of Carmen and Higinis Lobo.5

They were divorced about October 1930 in Hillsborough County.7-8 He then married second Loretta Adelle Winkle in Hillsborough County, Florida about June 1931.9-10 They possibly were divorced by 1934 because Joseph was listed by himself in the 1934 Tampa city directory. He was employed as a tearoom manager for Maas Brothers and he resided at 1507 DeSoto Avenue, Apt. 107.11
