    • Mathis Isiah BOATRIGHT, a son of Katie Stephens and Melton Earl Boatright, was born on 25 September 1919 in Emanuel County, Georgia. He was named as a son, aged 3 months, in his parents' household in the 1920 Toombs County, Georgia, census and as age 10 in the 1930 Montgomery County, Georgia census. He also was named as a surviving son in his father's 1969 obituary. In addition, he was named as a surviving brother in Noah Lee Boatright's 1959 obituary, in Leila Boatright Thomas' 1998 obituary, and in Solomon Shad Boatright's 2002 obituary. He was a resident of Norcross in 1959, but had moved to Crossville, Tennessee by 1998. He was still residing in Crossville in 2002.

      He married Alice Bridges on 1 August 1937 in Montgomery County, Georgia. She was born on 4 March 1917, a daughter of Ursula Blanton and George L. Bridges. His brother Noah married Ursula's sister Alice.

      They lived on a farm outside of Twin City with his brother Noah and his wife and were recorded in the 1940 Emanuel County census as follows: Noah Boatright, answered census questions, head, age 22, completed four grades of school, born in Georgia, lived on a farm in rural Emanuel County on 1 April 1935, was at work the week of 24 March, worked 48 hours the week of 24 March, farm laborer, wage earner, worked 52 weeks in 1939, earned wages of $208 in 1939, had no other source of income in 1939; Emily Boatright, wife, age 19, married, completed five grades of school, born in Georgia, lived on a farm in rural Emanuel County on 1 April 1935, engaged in housework, had no source of income in 1939, mother born in Georgia, father born in Georgia, spoke English in childhood home; Isah Boatright, age 20, completed five grades of school, born in Georgia, lived on a farm in rural Emanuel County on 1 April 1935. was at work the week of 24 March, worked 48 hours the week of 24 March, farm laborer, wage earner, worked 52 weeks in 1939, earned wages of $208 in 1939, had no other source of income in 1939; Alice Boatright, sister-in-law, age 23, married, completed one year of high school, born in Georgia, lived on a farm in rural Emanuel County on 1 April 1935, engaged in housework, had no source of income in 1939; Merlen E. Boatright, niece, age 1, born in Georgia.

      Alice died on 31 March 1984 in Montgomery County, Georgia. She was buried in Norcross Cemetery, also known as Wright Cemetery, Norcross, Gwinnett County, Georgia.

      Mathis married second Margaret Cole.

      Mathis died on 18 October 2009 in Crossville, Cumberland County, Tennessee, and was buried at H.G. Wright Cemetery (the newer section of Norcross Cemetery) in Norcross.
