    • Robert Lee BAGGETT, the oldest son of Clifford C. Pierce and Joshua E. Baggett, was born on 27 July 1898 in Emanuel County, Georgia. He was named as a son, aged 1 year, in his parents' household in the 1900 Emanuel County census and, aged 11 years, in the 1910 Emanuel County census. He also was named as a surviving son in his father's 1934 obituary.

      He married Mary Alice Swafford/Swofford on 5 August 1917 in Emanuel County. Mary was born on 27 January 1902 in Georgia. She possibly was born in Emanuel County, Georgia, a daughter of Mary A. Elizabeth and Robert Lee Swafford/Swofford.

      Robert registered for the World War I draft in Swainsboro, Emanuel County on 12 September 1918. The draft registration card provided the following information: Robert Lee Baggett; P. O. Dellwood, Emanuel County, Georgia; age 20; born 27 July 1898; natural born citizen; farming, employed by T. J. Scott, Dellwood; nearest relative, J. E. J. Baggett of Dellwood; signed Robert Lee Baggett; medium height, medium build, brown eyes, dark hair.

      In the 1920 Emanuel County census, the couple was enumerated as follows: Robert, age 21, married, born in Georgia, father and mother born in Georgia, could read and write, rented home, farmer; and Alice, age 18, born in Georgia, father and mother born in Georgia, could read and write. They lived beside his parents.

      They had two daughters:

      i. Ruth BAGGETT
      ii. Robbie Louise BAGGETT, born 20
      December 1924, died 19 June 1925

      Mary Alice died on 22 December 1924, probably as a result of childbirth. She was buried in Hall Cemetery, Modoc, Emanuel County. No death certificate can be located for her in Georgia.

      Robert married second Daisy Myrtle Weeks in Lee County, Florida, in 1927. She was born in Florida on 20 August 1911.

      He was recorded in the 1935 Florida Population census in Fort Lauderdale with his mother as follows: Mrs. Clifford Baggett, 635 N.E. 1st Ave., inside city limits, age 52, white, widow, born in Georgia, grammar school education, rented, child nurse; Robert Lee Baggett, age 24, son, born in Georgia, grammar school education, roofer; and, Luther Dewey Baggett, age 21, son, born in Georgia, grammar school education, roofer.

      Robert and family lived in a rented house, $13 a month, at 1820 South Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale when the 1940 Broward County census was taken. They were recorded as follows: Robert L. Baggett, answered census questions, head, age 42, married, completed eight grades of school, born in Georgia, lived in the same place on 1 April 1935, was not at work the week of 24 March, seeking work, out of work for six weeks, roofer in building construction, wage earner, worked 32 weeks in 1939, earned $960 in wages in 1939, had no other source of income in 1939; Daisy M. Baggett, wife, age 28, married, completed no grades in school, born in Florida, lived in the same place of 1 April 1935, was at work the week of 24 March, worked 45 hours the week of 24 March, press operator at laundry, wage earner, worked 52 weeks in 1939, earned $624 in wages in 1939, had no other source of income in 1939; Thelma L. Baggett, daughter, age 12, attended school, completed five grades of school, born in Alabama, lived in the same place on 1 April 1935; and, Mildred F. Baggett, daughter, age 10, attended school, completed three grades of school, born in South Carolina, lived in the same place on 1 April 1935.

      They were recorded in the 1945 Florida Population census in Broward County as follows: Robert L. Baggett, 120 NW 2 Street, in city limits, age 47, born in Georgia, high school education, baggage agent; Daisy Mirtle, age 33, born in Florida, grade school education, laundry; Thelma Louise, age 17, born in Alabama; 9th grade, laundry; Mildred Frances, age 15, born in South Carolina, 7th grade, student.

      They had two daughters:

      Robert died on 31 January 1947 in Broward County, Florida, and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Lauderdale.

      Daisy died on 12 January 1970 in Alachua County, Florida.
