    • Annie Lou RICH, a daughter of Mattie Mabel Hatcher and Jerry Jethro Rich, was born 2 August 1907 in Emanuel County, Georgia. She was named as a daughter, aged 3 years, in her parents? household in the 1910 Emanuel County census, and as aged 12 years in the 1920 Emanuel County census. She also was named as a surviving daughter in her father?s 1931 obituary and in her mother?s 1967 obituary.

      She lived in Swainsboro with her family. She and her sister Evelyn, like their parents, enjoyed entertaining their friends and their parties were reported in the local newspaper as was done in this May 1921 account: ?... Little Misses Annie Lou and Evelyn Rich were hostesses at a very delightful party Wednesday evening entertaining about twenty of their little friends.?

      In April 1925 Annie Lou had an attack of appendicitis and ?was rushed to the sanitarium at Vidalia Saturday to be operated upon.... Miss Rich is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rich, of this city. The young lady was successfully operated upon and is doing nicely at this time.?

      She married Willis Franklin Roberson Sr. on Sunday, 14 July 1929 in Swainsboro. For her wedding, Annie Lou wore a blue georgette ensemble with all matching accessories to complement her blonde hair. After their marriage, they had a short honeymoon trip to Dublin. Upon their return, they started ?housekeeping? at her parents? home. Willis was then working for the Swainsboro Fertilizer Company.

      Willis was born 4 December 1893 in Tennille, Washington County, Georgia. He was a bookkeeper/accountant. When the 1930 Emanuel County census was taken, Annie and Willis were residing at 709 Green Street in Swainsboro. They were recorded as follows: Willis F. Roberson, head, rented house, $20 rental, did not live on a farm, age 34, age 34 when first married, cashier, fertilizer company, wage earner, was working at time of the census, was a veteran of World War I; and, Annie L., wife, housekeeper, age 22, age 22 when first married.

      Willis? World War I draft registration card provided the following information: Willis Franklin Roberson; 1817 Reynolds, Aug---; born 4 December 1894; Caucasian; natural born citizen; born in Tennille, Georgia; no dependents; single; no military service; ---; signed Willis Franklin Roberson; physical description ? short, ---, blue eyes, black hair, not disabled; registered in Precinct 16, Calhoun County, Florida, ? June 1917.

      iii. Patricia A. ROBERSON

      Willis and Annie Lou moved to Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia about 1950 and made that their permanent home. In 1955 they resided at 423 Fourth Street.

      Annie died 16 May 1981 in Nederland, Jefferson County, Texas, and was buried in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta.

      Willis died 5 May 1982 in Augusta and was buried at Hillcrest beside Annie Lou.
