    Notes 
    • Kate Laura Boatright (Matthew Brinson3, Reubin2, Daniel1), a daughter of Mozelle McKenzie and Matthew Brinson Boatright, was born about 1900 in Georgia. She was named as a daughter, aged 11 years, in her parents' household in the 1910 Emanuel County census. She, also, was listed as a surviving daughter in her father's 1943 obituary, and as a surviving sister in the obituaries of Lucile Boatright Moore, 1939, Britton Benjamin Boatright, 1951, Frank Rhen Boatright, 1952, and Moses Watson Boatright, 1973.

      A local newspaper included Kate as one of the students who was on the honor roll for 1911 at Hale's Chapel School. Listed with her were her brothers Watson and Willie.

      She married first Julian Marcy Roberts in Emanuel County on 28 January 1917. He was born on 17 March 1897 in Emanuel County, son of Mary M. Hann and William Jasper Roberts.

      Julian registered for the World War I draft in the 53rd GMD, Emanuel County on 5 June 1918. His draft registration card provided the following information: Julian M Roberts; post office address: RFD #1, Blun, Georgia; age 21; born 17 March 1897; natural born citizen; born in Wade, Georgia; occupation: farmer, employed by Math Boatright; dependents: wife and one child; married; claimed exemption based on dependents; signed Julian M. Roberts; physical description: tall, medium build, blue eyes, light brown hair, not bald; no physical disabilities.

      They were included in the 1920 Emanuel County census as: J. M. Roberts, rents home, age 25, married, could read and write, born in Georgia, father and mother born in Georgia, farmer; Katie, wife, age 23, could read and write, born in Georgia, father and mother born in Georgia; and Ednice, son, age 2 years and 4 months, born in Georgia. They lived between Kate's brother and sister, M. W. Boatright and Lucile Moore.

      They had one son:

      i. Marcy Ednace ROBERTS

      Julian died on 2 May 1921 and was buried in Hawhammock Church Cemetery in Emanuel County.

      Kate married second Elisha Edward Lamb on 11 September 1921 in Emanuel County. He was born in Emanuel County on 8 August 1880 and, like Katie, had been married previously.

      Elisha registered for the World War I draft in Swainsboro, Emanuel County on 12 September 1918. His draft registration card provided the following information: Elisha Edward Lamb; post office address: Swainsboro, Georgia; age 39; born 8 August 1877; natural born citizen; occupation: farmer, self-employed at Swainsboro; nearest relative: Mrs. Lela Lamb of Swainsboro; signed E. E. Lamb; physical description: medium height, medium build, grey eyes, dark hair; no physical disabilities.

      The 1930 Emanuel County census recorded Kate and Elisha with her son Ednace, Elisha's children by his first marriage, and their three daughters as follows: Elisha Lamb, head, owned home, lived on a farm, age 50, married first at age 24, could read and write, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia, farmer, general farm, self-employed, was working at time of the census, was not a veteran; Katie, wife, housekeeper, age 29, married first at age 16, could read and write, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia; Jimmie, son, age 24, single, could read and write, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia, laborer, farm, worked as member of household, was working at time of the census, was not a veteran; Pauline, daughter, age 22, single, could read and write, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia; Erma Lee, daughter, age 17, could read and write, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia; Arthur, son, 19, could read and write, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia, laborer, farm, worked as member of household, was working at time of the census; Delia, daughter, age 18, could read and write, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia; Oneta, daughter, age 14, attended school, could read and write, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia; Ednice Roberts, son, age 12, attended school, could read and write, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia; Catherine Lamb, daughter, age 7, attended school, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia; Sylvia Lamb, daughter, age 4 years and 2 months, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia; and, Annie Ruel?, daughter, age 2 years and 7? months, born in Georgia, parents born in Georgia.

      They rented a house for $7 a month in Langley when the 1940 Aiken County, South Carolina census was taken. The information provided by the census included: Elisha Lamb, head, age 58, married, completed four grades of school, born in Georgia, lived in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, Georgia, on 1 April 1935, unable to work, had no source of income in 1939; Katie Lamb, answered census questions, wife, age 39, married, completed two years of high school, born in Georgia, lived in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, Georgia, on 1 April 1935, was at work the week of 24 March, worked 40 hours the week of 24 March, cloth clipper at cotton mill, wage earner, worked 50 weeks in 1939, earned $650 in wages in 1939, had no other source of income in 1939; Catherine Lamb, daughter, age 17, attended school, completed four years of high school, born in Georgia, lived in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, Georgia, on 1 April 1935, student, had no source of income in 1939; Sylvia Lamb, daughter, age 14, attended school, completed eight grades of school, born in Georgia, lived in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, Georgia, on 1 April 1935, student, had no source of income in 1939; and, Hilda Lamb, daughter, age 8, attended school, completed two grades of school, born in Georgia, lived in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, Georgia, on 1 April 1935.

      They had four daughters:

      Kate joined Hawhammock Baptist Church as a child and remained a member for a number of years. She was included on the 1927 membership roll.

      Elisha died on 13 August 1942 in Bath, Aiken County, South Carolina. He was buried in Ebenezer Church Cemetery at Kemp in Emanuel County, Georgia.

      Kate had moved to Bath with her husband by 1939 and resided there until at least 1943. She moved to nearby Clearwater, Aiken County, by 1951. She lived in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia by 1953 and was recorded in the 1953 Augusta city directory as Katie B. Lamb, widow of E. E. Lamb, and resided at 710 Crawford Avenue. The 1954 through 1960 Augusta city directories listed her at the same residence and as either a widow of Elisha E. Lamb or Eligah Lamb.

      She returned to Aiken County and was was listed in the 1966, 1971, and 1975 Aiken city directories as the widow of E. E. Lamb. She owned her home at 3604 Vaucluse Road.She apparently lived in Aiken for the remainder of her life.

      She occasionally was mentioned in the social columns of the local newspapers with notices of visits to and from her children, family illnesses, and church related stories.

      Kate was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Aiken, South Carolina.

      She died on 28 May 1976 in Aiken and was buried at Sunset Memory Gardens, Aiken County.
